Last week my husband, his twin brother, their father and I spent four days visiting our friends’ beachfront home on the wide sandy coastline of Northern France. I decided to bring my dad’s old Nikon F2a and two rolls of black and white film. I didn’t realize there were still ten exposures left on a mystery roll in the camera from the last time I used it (which, it turns out, was last summer). Shameful? Maybe a little. I’ve been so digitally-minded this last year, but these images feel like a breath of fresh air, much like the trip they capture.
Pictured here are
far left and far right two talented artists and musicians with substacks worth following. The mystery roll ended up being a roll of 160 speed Kodak color film. The meter isn’t currently working on the camera so I use a combination of guess work and the trusty PocketMeter app on my phone but I don’t always have it on me when I want to capture an image. Honestly surprised at how some of these turned out despite shooing right into the sun with a max shutter speed of 2500 and guessing what speed film was left in the camera.
Thank you to
and for beautiful days here xoxo
