Contemplating the time it takes to understand profound life experiences (in very few words)
Today we said goodbye to the last of the summer heat. The pressure has shifted and the sun is nowhere to be found. It seems that today should finally be the day to share a glimpse of Greece — the trip that will forever be marked in my memory as one of the most profound and significant moments of my 30th year. On Friday I will say au revoir to that 30th year and hello to my 31st.
I’ve tried several times to reflect on this trip in writing, but I simply cannot express, or even pretend to understand the full context of it, just yet. It keeps rippling into my life a month later… with each reflection I learn something new, I see something differently and so I cannot yet write about it. As Elliott Erwitt put so perfectly: “The whole point of taking pictures is that you don’t have to explain things with words.” Maybe I’ll have the words when I am 32. Until then, please enjoy the images.
